WheelMates tools and setup

This hub is the practical side of the wiki: can your PC run WheelMates, and can you actually get two cars into Professor Bloom’s house. Firevolt’s game is a mandatory two-player co-op released on 1 September 2026 for Steam PC and Steam Deck. It will not boot you into a solo kitchen. It will not run on a DirectX 11-only GPU. The child pages exist so those two facts do not hide inside a walkthrough paragraph.

Start with system requirements if you are still looking at an old laptop. Start with co-op setup if the hardware is fine and the problem is Friend’s Pass, split-screen, Remote Play Together, or player two’s keyboard binds. Open Steam Deck if handheld is the host. What belongs under Tools

Hardware. Minimum and recommended CPUs and GPUs, 8 GB versus 16 GB of RAM, 15 GB of disk, 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12. Steam Deck is supported at launch, which is why a handheld is a valid couch box in 2026 while Switch is still on the 2027 plan. Install quirks. The on-disk folder still uses the development name RC Together. Crash logs sit under C:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/RC Together/CarGame/Saved/Logs. If you search your drive for “WheelMates” and find nothing useful, that is why. The system requirements page repeats the path so you can paste it to Discord.

Session quirks. Online versus local split-screen. Friend’s Pass (one copy, two players). Controllers versus keyboard. Remote Play Together. No in-game voice. The co-op setup page is the checklist you send a friend who has never launched the game.

Completion. Twenty-one Steam achievements exist. There is no solo 100 percent. The Achievements page explains the 6-hour story versus 8-hour secrets path without inventing trophy names.

This hub does not rank gadgets. That is the tier list. It does not spoil the Kitchen or Garage. It does not replace Getting Started, which is the first-hour play guide once the session actually exists.

Who this is for

• Someone reading the Steam page who only remembers “GTX 1060” and wants the rest of the grid.
• A Deck owner who needs to know handheld is supported now, not in 2027. Start on Steam Deck, not only on the spec grid.
• Someone staring at 21 locked Steam achievements who wants the 6-hour / 8-hour rule instead of a fake trophy list. That is Achievements.
• A pair that owns one copy and is arguing about Friend’s Pass versus Remote Play Together.
• Anyone whose game crashed and who needs the RC Together log folder instead of a screenshot of the desktop.

How the two tool pages split

Keep hardware fights on system requirements. “My 1050 Ti cannot run DX12” is a spec problem. Keep social fights on co-op setup. “Player two’s keyboard cannot rebind” is a session problem. Mixing them in one article makes both answers longer and worse. Deck performance questions belong on Steam Deck, not on the spec grid. Achievement questions belong on Achievements, not in a walkthrough footnote.

Official spec text comes from Steam. Official co-op rules come from Firevolt’s launch FAQ and Discord Q&A: no in-game voice, Discord recommended, Steam Deck yes, achievements yes. This wiki does not invent extra minimums. If your machine is between min and rec, try the Deck-like settings: follow camera, lower extras, and a wired adapter if Wi-Fi stutters in online co-op.

After the tools work

Once both cars spawn, you are done with this hub. Go play. The house does not have a timer. You can spend the first hour in the kitchen without failing a ranking season. When a wall looks illegal, that is probably magnetic wheels later, not a driver bug. When a crash returns, come back here with the log path, not with a new GPU shopping list unless the log says otherwise.
